Education Enrichment

Phoenix Academy supports students with clubs, societies, sports and a host of visits and visitors to provide a full range of Enrichment to go hand in hand with our academic programme. We have strong partnerships with Imperial, L’Oreal, Blenheim Chalcot and Santander. We strive to ensure Phoenix Academy produces well-rounded young people that are ready to excel in further education or the world of work. It is a primary goal to provide opportunities that will raise aspirations.

Visits to top universities allied with the ties we have nurtured with top local businesses and the motivation and advice we get from inspirational speakers ensure we impart Careers information, advice and guidance that is forever striving to go beyond the standard Gatsby Benchmarks.

After school clubs and a strong School Council provide a wide range of enrichment activities for students.

Sport

London Sports Trust run a host of sporting activities at Phoenix Academy during lunchtime and after school. Basketball, trampolining, football and table tennis are but a few of the many sports students enjoy.

The Arts

As part of Arts enrichment, we attend productions at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, as part of a relationship that has spanned many years. The Lyric supports us with free tickets and workshops and Phoenix Academy appreciates their interest to help our students as well as the support from other Arts Institutions. Students also attend productions at the Bush Theatre and Globe Theatre.

We arrange visits to a host of world-class museums in London as well as outings to the Royal Academy and its fantastic exhibitions. Students perception of the world is enhanced when they see great art unfolding before them. It inspires, challenges and raises aspirations which is central to what our Enrichment programme aims to achieve.

Societies

Historically we have had an excellent Student Council and this year has been no exception. Driving various initiatives, the Council has been behind our aim to ‘Go Plastic Free’ as well as assisting in fund-raising activities. Having had to adapt to mostly online meetings throughout this academic year the Student Council has pushed its Eco Campaign by striving to stop canteen disposables and introduce Phoenix Academy water bottles. It has also been at the forefront of ensuring that excellent food quality standards are maintained. At the end of the year, we will be having our Cultural Day, which is led by the students as a fund-raising activity. This year the funds are going to Unicef’s Gaza Appeal. We are finishing this year with big plans to restructure and improve the way the Student Council is run next year.

Trips

External visits and trips are a vital aspect of expanding a young person’s experiences of the world and are a very important Enrichment tool. Learning and making memories on trips is a good way to motivate students in the classroom. Trips and visits bring real-world meaning to a student’s education.

Past trips have included Bath City and its university, The Royal Academy, museums and ski trips, with continuing opportunities to support our student’s development.
